Human Self-explanatory. Can be slaves, runaway slaves, or members of fugitive tribes. Their place of origin can be anywhere in the world, as long as you can explain how they ended up here. Unless they have had their hair dyed (a master might do this to their slave for decorative purposes), they must have a natural human hair colour; the same goes for eye and skin colour. If they know how to read, write, fight, etc. you must explain how they learned in their bio. Plural is 'humans'.
Djinn Rulers of the Djinni Empire, including Southern Spain. The seat of their empire is in Cairo, but their power in Spain rests in Granada. There are three "races" among djinn, each with sharper senses and greater strength and agility than humans. These races can intermingle, but it is socially looked down upon; the purer the racial blood of a djinn, the stronger their powers. Plural is 'djinn'.
• Ghoul - Can gain sustenance from -- and loves the taste of -- blood (except that of other djinn). Can shape shift into whomever or whatever at will if they've tasted their/its blood within roughly the last twenty-four hours. Plural is 'ghouls'. • Afrit - Highly passionate, usually has a quick temper. Can control fire; fire and extreme heat has no effect on them. Their skin is a beautiful, exotic bronzed colour and always hot, as if they have a perpetual fever. They enjoy the feel of cool or cold things. Plural is 'afriti'. • Marid - Deep and mysterious, usually withdrawn. Can control and breathe under water. Their skin is very chilled, and is a lovely, smooth marble-like white. They enjoy the feeling of warmth, though not excessive heat or direct sunlight. Plural is 'marids'. • Nasnas - The offspring of Djinn and humans. Humans cannot impregnate Djinn, so the mothers of Nasnas are always human. They are not slaves, but are nonetheless treated as outcasts. They have a mix of the appearances of their parents and weaker versions of their father's abilities. The children of nasnas are usually stillborn and none have ever lived to the age of ten. Plural is 'nasnas'.
Angel The master race of the Helion Empire. They are also sometimes referred to as the Helionim (hel-ee-oh-neem). They are very strong, and have large wings that emulate the wings of various species of bird -- this trait is passed down through the mother. As a culture the Helionim are no-nonsense and militaristic, though they hold the study of philosophy and history in high regard. While their culture demands calm and logical conduct, they have the ability to be very passionate beings. They mate for life, and becoming mated creates a limited link between the two minds. Since they have the potential to live three times as long as humans and djinn and take this ceremony very seriously, angel mates and children are comparably rare. Angels can mate with humans and with nasnas, but it is strictly forbidden. Humans and captured djinn are kept as slaves in the Helion Empire, but laws regarding their treatment are considerably more strict than those imposed by the djinn.
Other The opportunity to play different species from those listed here, special powers, etc. can be bought from the bazaar (in the 'Studio' board). The only limits here are your imagination and admin approval (and I'm not likely to refuse anything but the embarrassingly ridiculous, like headless rainbow leprechauns.)
